I’m finally doing it: This newsletter is go.
It’s scary to start something new, especially on my own, but it’s time. Some of what I’ll write here will be about public health, some will be about personal and consumer health, and some will probably be about neither — we’ll see what feels interesting. As with pancakes, it’ll take a few tries to figure out what works and what doesn’t, so buckle up.

This is what Claude.ai made me when I asked it to draw an ugly pancake.
Maybe we’re all going to be okay.
If you’ve read my work before, it’ll feel similar, just more informal and a little more personal. Hopefully, it’ll still be useful.
I’ll be publishing weekly, with extra posts when something timely happens. The first few issues will be free, but subscriptions will eventually make it sustainable.
The first issue is coming in a few days, and it’ll be about an upcoming conference that tells you everything you need to know about the current state of the CDC. It’s not great!
If this sounds like your idea of a good time, I’d love to have you here — and if it’s someone else’s too, feel free to pass it along.
